ATHENS, Ga. —  UGA Presents is bringing The Second City back to Athens for a new round of social and political satire with “Laughing for All the Wrong Reasons.” The comedy troupe will perform their new show April 3 at 7:30 p.m. and April 4 at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in Ramsey Concert Hall. 

The Second City has been amusing audiences around the world for over 50 years with a hilarious combination of sketches, songs and improvisation. Based in Chicago, the company has launched the careers of countless comedy stars including Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jane Lynch, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Carell, Amy Poehler and Bill Murray.

In 1976, Second City debuted “Second City Television,” a critically acclaimed sketch comedy show that ran until 1984. The two-time Emmy winner featured an all-star cast made up of Martin Short, Andrea Martin, Catherine O’Hara, John Candy, Eugene Levy and Rick Moranis.

The Second City’s last Athens appearance was in 2018 when the company performed three sold-out shows.

Tickets for Second City are $45 and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center box office, online at pac.uga.edu or by calling 706-542-4400. A limited number of discounted tickets are available to current UGA students for $10 with a valid UGA ID (limit one ticket per student).

Ramsey Concert Hall is located in the UGA Performing Arts Center at 230 River Road in Athens.
