Response to COVID-19
Dear Friends,
For an organization whose mission exclusively focuses upon bringing people together to be uplifted, enriched, and inspired by live performances, the current challenges bring us particular disappointment. However, the safety and well-being of our patrons, students, artists, and staff remains our top priority. Given the University of Georgia’s decision to suspend classroom activities and events for the next two weeks, all performances and other events at the UGA Performing Arts Center have been canceled through March 29. We understand your disappointment and hope you can be patient with us as we work through the ramifications of this situation. Tickets for canceled performances will be refunded over the coming weeks. Tickets for rescheduled performances will be honored for the new dates. We will continue to communicate with you via our social media channels and other methods in order to keep you informed.
Even if we reopen at the beginning of April, it is possible that some additional performances may not continue as planned if the current shutdown restricts the ability of students and/or artists to make adequate preparation for upcoming events. We will continue to communicate with you as things evolve.
Because most of our box office staff consists of student workers, we are operating at a reduced capacity through the end of the month and will continue to do so until the students return to campus. We expect wait times on the box office phones to be long and ask for your patience as we try to communicate with you.
At this time, we anticipate that the Performing Arts Center will resume public events the week of March 30.
Impacted events:
- Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, March 19-20, has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
- Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis on March 28 has been postponed until fall 2020. The date will be announced later. All current tickets will be honored for the new date.
- Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, March 29, has been canceled and will not be rescheduled, although we look forward to welcoming the ensemble back to UGA next season with alternate programs.
- All performances, events, and rehearsals by the Hugh Hodgson School of Music have been canceled through March 27, including Saturday Morning Club on March 21.
- Performances taking place in other venues ticketed by the Performing Arts Center are also canceled through March 29, including UGA Theatre’s production of The Penelopiad.
Ticketholders to impacted events have several options:
- Donate the cost of your ticket(s) to the Performing Arts Center (PAC)
- Exchange your ticket(s) for another PAC performance coming up this spring
- Receive a credit on your account for a future performance, including next season
- Receive a full refund of the amount paid
Ticketholders should contact the Box Office staff in the coming days. We ask for your patience as we work to contact all those who are impacted.
Customers with tickets to other upcoming performances this spring who have concerns about participating in public assemblies may also receive any of the benefits listed above for those events.
