This is part of a recurring series of articles about the people who support the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center.
Meet Herb and Myrna Adams West. She is a retired educator and Oconee County native who taught at the middle school, high school, college and university levels. Herb, an Atlantan, was in construction for 25 years and also worked in tax preparation. This season they supported a repeat appearance by the Scottish folk band Breabach, who unfortunately had to cancel.
“Out of the myriad entertainment venues in Athens, the UGA Performing Arts Center’s offerings meet our eclectic interests the best. In addition to fabulous musicians from popular and classical musical genres, we enjoy the dancers, comedians, thespians, and other entertainers from around the world that the PAC hosts.
“We first bought season tickets for the 2004-2005 season and began including a small donation in 2006. We co-sponsored a performance by Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn for the ill-fated 2019-2020 season, when the Covid pandemic put a temporary end to live performances. After scheduling conflicts caused further delays, we finally got to hear and meet those two favorite performers in 2022. We have sponsored or co-sponsored a performance for every season since then. With bluegrass, folk, classical, gospel, and jazz on our musical list as well as the PAC’s, we are happy to support the UGA Performing Arts Center.”
