“Why I Give” is a recurring series of articles about the people who support the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center.
Meet Blaine Bostelman (seated) and Wessley Barrett of Athens. Blaine is chief facilities management officer of University Cancer & Blood Center. Wessley is regional manager of instructional development for Goodwill of North Georgia. They are sponsoring the Jan. 19 concert by Pink Martini.
For us, supporting the arts—specifically through the University of Georgia and its Performing Arts Center—is both a passion and a purpose. It is about investing in the soul of a community. When we foster what brings us joy and meaning, we actively shape the world around us for the better.
One of the great privileges of supporting the Performing Arts Center is seeing world-class artists perform right here in our backyard. Bringing internationally acclaimed musicians, world-renowned dance troupes, and visionary theatrical productions to Athens turns our town into a premier cultural destination, providing local audiences with access to global art without needing to travel to major metropolitan hubs.
We are profoundly fortunate to live somewhere that recognizes the irreplaceable value of the arts. Supporting them at the University of Georgia is more than making a gift; it is supporting a commitment to beauty, culture, and the continued vitality of our community. I encourage everyone who values the arts to join in sustaining this mission.
