Give Tickets! 2021 Holiday Gift Guide

December 3, 2021

Nothing makes a better holiday gift — or stocking stuffer — than a pair of tickets to a memorable concert. Providing a loved one with an unforgettable experience is as thoughtful as it gets.

So we at the Performing Arts Center have produced this handy gift guide for pleasing even the most persnickety partner, relative or friend. We’ve got the fun — let us help you share it. Just match the person on your list with the personality type below.

Lovers of dance, spectacle, and tradition

Look to Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernandez (Feb. 4). The 76-member dance company from Mexico City is on a 70th anniversary tour that brings sights and sounds from a range of centuries to Athens.

A valentine who appreciates virtuosity

On the Friday before Valentine’s Day, join us for a recital by one of the world’s leading violinists, Joshua Bell (Feb. 11).

Jazz enthusiast/member of a large family

The Branford Marsalis Quartet (Feb. 19) is led by the celebrated saxophonist from the first family of New Orleans jazz. Their most recent album, the Grammy-nominated The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul, finds them at the top of their game.

Broadway baby/folk music maven

Anaïs Mitchell + Bonny Light Horseman (Feb. 26) finds Mitchell, the Tony Award-winning composer of Hadestown, appearing with the Grammy-nominated folk supergroup.

Radio listener/podcast freak

Seven Things I’ve Learned: An Evening with Ira Glass (March 19) features the King of All Public Media and a collection of audio and video clips that explore his life and career.

Pining for the Emerald Isle

Lúnasa (March 24) brings fiddle, flute, pipes, guitar and bass from Ireland for a night of boundary-breaking traditional music.

Band geek/comedy fan

The Mnozil Brass (March 29) is an impossibly talented band from Austria that can cover virtually anything and have a fine time doing it. Their shows jump from virtuosic playing to spirited singing to deft physical comedy. Fun for all ages!

Anglophile/connoisseur of witticisms

Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain hiding behind their ukuleles.

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (April 3) is an eight-member band that covers everything from folk songs to the “Theme from Shaft” and “Psycho Killer.” They’re engaging and hilarious.
