This is part of a recurring series of articles about the people who support the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center.
Meet the Friends of Jane King. She and her husband Bruce sponsored programs at the Performing Arts Center for decades. After her death in 2023, some of her friends united to sponsor a performance by Eighth Blackbird and the UGA Wind Ensemble.
We have lived in Athens our entire retired life — now nearing 25 years. Athens had many attractions to lure a couple to put down new permanent roots. High on the list was the University of Georgia. Early on we discovered its Performing Arts Center. Over the years the PAC has been an increasing source of enjoyment, enlightenment, and social engagement for us.
While all programs may not appeal to everyone, the variety and diversity of the programming, including all the Hugh Hodgson School of Music offers, provide bright cultural discovery no matter your background.
It is clear to us that the PAC has made an indelible mark on the university and community. It is a treasured asset deserving of support beyond ticket purchases. That is why we want to make a greater contribution. —John Songster
