This is part of a recurring series of articles about the people who support the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center.
Meet Carol and Jim Warnes. They’ve been attending UGA Performing Arts Center events since the facility opened nearly 30 years ago. She retired as an instructor in the UGA Department of Mathematics. Jim, an Athens native, practiced law for 50 years with an emphasis in land planning. Her signature moment as a Performing Arts Center patron was dancing onstage to “Charlie Brown” with Cornell Gunter’s Coasters.
When we began discussing retirement, Carol said, “I will move wherever you want to go so long as the medical facilities and entertainment opportunities are equal to or better than what we have in Athens.” Since we live overlooking the Oconee River, and since we are longtime attendees of events at the UGA Performing Arts Center, as well as enjoying the variety of other opportunities available in Athens, the decision to stay here was a no brainer.
We support the PAC because of the quality and diversity of its offerings. The PAC is an integral part of the Athens community with its Arts Education Partners Program and the Volunteers Tribute. Thanks to Jeff, Blake, and Carlton together with the rest of the staff for their energy in continuing to make the PAC a world class treasure. We are privileged to play a small role in making the total endeavor possible.
