Renée Fleming is one of the most highly acclaimed singers of our time, performing on the stages of the world’s great opera houses and concert halls. She returns to the UGA Performing Arts Center April 25 and 26 for a panel discussion and a recital with pianist Bradley Moore.

As part of her visit to UGA, she will present Music & Mind, a panel discussion with University of Georgia researchers and health practitioners whose work explores this burgeoning field. VOICE OF NATURE: THE ANTHROPOCENE

Fleming’s highly anticipated return to Hodgson Concert Hall offers a program of art songs and contemporary music that explores nature as both inspiration and casualty of humanity. An original film by the National Geographic Society accompanies one half of the program, which ranges from operatic favorites to Björk. For tickets, see below.

A 2023 Kennedy Center Honoree, winner of five Grammy awards and the US National Medal of Arts, Renée Fleming has sung for momentous occasions from the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony to the Super Bowl. In 2023, the World Health Organization appointed her as Goodwill Ambassador for Arts and Health, and this year at Davos, she became an inaugural member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Arts and Culture Council.
Renée received the Grammy Award for Best Classical Vocal Solo for her album Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene. Last May at the Metropolitan Opera, Renée starred in The Hours, an opera based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and award-winning film. Her voice is featured on the soundtracks of Best Picture Oscar winners The Shape of Water and The Lord of the Rings.
Renée’s anthology, Music and Mind: Harnessing the Arts for Health and Wellness, was published in April 2024. A prominent advocate for research at the intersection of arts, health, and neuroscience, during her time as Artistic Advisor to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Renée launched the first ongoing collaboration between America’s national cultural center and its largest health research institute, the National Institutes of Health. She has created her own program called Music and the Mind, which she has presented in more than 60 cities around the world.
BRADLEY MOORE
Pianist Bradley Moore has appeared in recital with Renée Fleming, Susan Graham, Ryan Speedo Green, Jamie Barton, Christine Goerke, Angela Meade, Eric Owens and Eric Cutler, among others. He has been a piano soloist with orchestras including the National Symphony Orchestra and the Buffalo Philharmonic. He performed the Martinu Harpsichord Concerto with the San Francisco Ballet for the world premiere of Mark Morris’s Beaux, and has also been heard as a recitative accompanist and continuo player with the Met Orchestra, the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Met Chamber Ensemble.
