“[The performance] opened with a propulsive, richly hued interpretation…which demonstrated the ensemble’s polish and tonal allure.”–The New York Times

The Sphinx Virtuosi are an inspiring self-conducted chamber orchestra that transforms lives through the power of music. Comprised of 18 Black and Latino artists who reflect the highest level of musicianship in America, the ensemble expands the breadth of classical music through artistic excellence, pioneering programming, and community engagement.

Visions of Peace, the ensemble’s UGA Presents debut program, imagines a world where music serves as an emissary of reconciliation and unity. From William Grant Still’s Suite for Violin — featuring the celebrated young violinist Randall Goosby — to José White’s stirring Cuban melodies, to Ruben Rengel’s setting of Prokofiev’s “Stalingrad” Sonata, this collection of new and familiar voices transcends borders in a jubilant celebration of the human spirit.
