“The most elegant and articulate words fail to do justice to Stutzmann’s performance. She is a consummate rock star on the podium. With her precise, yet large and wild articulations, she doesn’t ‘conduct’ so much as she seizes the full potential of every note and wrenches it loose from the silence that preceded it.”—ArtsATL
Experience the seismic power of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra with Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, the ultimate musical thrill ride that surges with staggering virtuosity, luxuriant melodies, and thundering orchestral verve. The ASO welcomes the sensational 2022 Van Cliburn medalist Anna Geniushene, who plays “with an exquisite touch and an almost infinite tonal palette” (La Scena). During the second half, Music Director Nathalie Stutzmann shifts into the kaleidoscopic world of Maurice Ravel—the ultimate orchestral colorist. Leaning into the limitless nuance of the ASO’s artistry, she presents Ravel’s tender and scintillating Mother Goose, followed by La valse, a haunting, volcanic dream of a Viennese waltz.
