This is part of a recurring series of articles about the people who support the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center.

Meet S. Jack Hu and his wife, Jun Du, pictured here with pianist Lang Lang (center). Dr. Hu has been serving as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost since July 2019. In this role, he oversees instruction, research, public service and outreach, information technology, and the nineteen schools and colleges at the University of Georgia. He is also a UGA Foundation Distinguished Professor in the School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural, and Mechanical Engineering in the UGA College of Engineering. Ms. Du is a pianist with a degree from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.

The S. Jack Hu and Jun Du Performing Arts Center Endowment provides support for the Student Ticket Initiative under the auspices of the Performing Arts Center. The initiative offers students discounted tickets to see world-class performances, such as professional music, dance, and theatre.

The visual and performing arts enrich our lives as well as campus life at the University of Georgia. We contribute to the UGA Performing Arts Center because it plays a central role in bringing world-class performers to our campus. Faculty, staff, students and community members have an opportunity to enjoy performances by amazing artists from across the globe, and we are happy to be a part of this experience every season.

We believe it is incredibly important for students to have an opportunity to experience these performances. Since the cost of attending a performance can be a hurdle for students, we hope our gift will help offset these costs and allow more students to share in joy of the performing arts.

The Performing Arts Center contributes so much to our campus and our community. We are thrilled to support its mission.
