This is part of a series of monthly articles about people who support the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center.

Meet Drs. Jane Huang and Philipp Torres. They supported Ira Glass’s appearance in September and Kishi Bashi’s performance with the UGA Symphony Orchestra in October.

After living in the Athens area for more than 10 years, we have become avid supporters of the UGA Performing Arts Center.  We believe that the PAC is a vital and impactful part of our community. This is one of the reasons that drew us to move to Athens. It is rare to have such high-quality programming resulting in a varied and renowned repertoire in a town of this size. In addition to more classical selections, the inclusion of more avant-garde pieces is exciting.

Experiencing performances together for our family has been enriching and joyful, but also transformative in exposing us to different ideas and perspectives.  We believe in our hometown and feel a responsibility to actively support efforts we believe in. Our hope with our future giving is that our contribution will help ensure the representation and inclusion of diverse backgrounds for both the performers and audience.

Going through the Covid pandemic helped us understand what’s important to us, what’s essential and where our priorities are.  In many ways, we’re even more appreciative of the PAC and hope our support continues to help this valuable resource continue to thrive and grow.
