SUMMARY:I Am A Voice That Sings
DESCRIPTION:I Am a Voice That Sings is a celebration of the joy\, courage\, and connection that live within all of us. Through a diverse and uplifting program performed by all ensembles of the Georgia Children’s Chorus – including works by Tracy Wong\, Benjamin Britten\, Marques L.A. Garrett\, Abbie Betinis\, and Michael Bussewitz-Quarm\, the concert explores music that reminds us to look beyond the noise and comparisons of the outside world and instead listen to the wisdom of our own hearts. These songs invite us to seek light in moments of uncertainty\, to support one another\, and to sing with honesty and hope. Above all\, we hope this program inspires our audience to remember a simple truth: each of us is enough\, and each of us is a voice that sings.

SUMMARY:The Del McCoury Band
DESCRIPTION:“McCoury is a national treasure.”—Washington Post \nEven among the pantheon of music’s finest\, Del McCoury stands alone. From the nascent sound of bluegrass that charmed hardscrabble hillbilly honky-tonks\, rural schoolhouse stages\, and the crowning glory of the Grand Ole Opry\, to the present day’s digital revolution\, Del is the living link. Now helming the Del McCoury Band\, with sons Ronnie and Rob\, he stands as a torchbearer for the entire sweep and scope of bluegrass history. In his sixth decade onstage\, he continues to endear himself to a whole new generation of fans. One listen and it’s crystal clear why: There’s only one Del.

SUMMARY:Athens Choral Festival performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah
DESCRIPTION:Our very successful June 2025 performance of Mozart Solemn Vespers and Forrest Lux: The Dawn From on High created much excitement from singers\, orchestral players\, and audience. We are planning another concert for 2026. The music will be the oratorio Elijah (Mendelssohn) in five scenes. The scenes are 1) The Drought\, 2) The Challenge\, 3) The Rain\, 4) The Travails of Elijah\, and 5) Elijah is Swept to Heaven. For an oratorio Elijah is a great opera. All the opera elements are contained in this music – great choruses\, solos\, recitatives\, drama\, suspense\, highs and lows\, in this setting chorales\, and above all beautiful and sweeping music that is so typical of Mendelssohn. \nWe are excited to announce that Jeremy Galyon has accepted our invitation to come to Athens to sing the role of Elijah with us. Mr. Galyon sang in the solo quartet in our Mozart Requiem performance in June\, 2024 at Carnegie Hall in New York. Mr. Galyon has sung in many opera and concert presentations around the country and in Europe\, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York\, the San Francisco Opera\, the Houston Grand Opera\, and numerous performances in Carnegie Hall of the major works for chorus and orchestra. \nFor this concert we have 56 singers from eight states\, and also several cities in Georgia. We will be accompanied by a 26-piece orchestra. \nTickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for students and children\, and can be purchased in advance at the Performing Arts Center box office (706) 542-4400 or at the box office that evening. \nJoseph Napoli\, conductor
