UGA Presents Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Front Row: National

September 14, 2020

Alice Tully Hall - New York City

UGA Presents is pleased to partner with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center to present a series of eight high-quality prerecorded performances as part of our Studio HH season this fall. Each performance in this artist series includes a brief video feature about one or more of the musicians participating in the program, followed by the presentation of the performance and a prerecorded Q&A. The performances were recorded at Alice Tully Hall, CMS’s home in New York City.

The series of online performances launches Sept. 16 on the UGA Performing Arts Center website and continues through Dec. 9. This series is made possible by the generous support of Dr. Carl S. Hoveland.

Patrick Castillo will present pre-performance talks prior to the performances on Sept. 16, Oct. 7, and Dec. 9.

A digital program file (PDF) will be published on each event web page prior to the start of each performance.

About CMS Front Row: National:

CMS Front Row was originally conceived in March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic made it impossible to perform for live audiences in the concert hall. The series comprises beautifully shot, full-length HD performance videos from the CMS archive, curated by CMS co-Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han. CMS Front Row was created to sustain audiences and provide a new way to experience this beautiful art form in a meaningful and innovative way, from the virtual “Front Row,” in the comfort and safety of listeners’ homes.

In addition to the live performance video, each concert includes either introductory remarks from one or more of the artists, offering audiences insights into the music, or a personal look into the artists’ lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. David Finckel and Wu Han serve as hosts for the concerts, and following the performance, there is a Q&A with Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han and artists.
