The Bach Suites: A Moveable Feast

Bach’s suites for unaccompanied cello are some of the most moving and spiritual compositions for a solo instrument. Musical pioneer Matt Haimovitz begins by performing three of the suites in separate locations around the UGA campus over the course of two days (free admission), prior to final performance of the remaining three suites in Hodgson Concert Hall (ticket required). Each suite features an overture composed by Philip Glass, Du Yun, and Vijay Iyer, and others, resulting in a unique experience unparalleled in the classical music world.

Make it an evening with a tour and free dessert at the Georgia Museum of Art at 5:30 p.m. and a pre-performance talk in Ramsey Concert Hall at 6:45 p.m. (free admission).

Moveable Feast Performances

Each free-admission “Moveable Feast” performance lasts approximately 30 minutes and includes one Bach Suite and one overture. These informal performances will not include any organized seating. Standing may be required.
