SUMMARY:Sérgio and Odair Assad 60th Anniversary Farewell Tour
DESCRIPTION:“Sérgio and Odair Assad have moved audiences and inspired guitarists around the world…with revelatory performances of Latin American music and European classics\, original compositions\, deep musicality\, and supple\, almost telepathic\, guitar duo performances.”—San Francisco Classical Voice\nOver the course of their legendary careers\, Brazilian-born brothers Sérgio and Odair Assad set the standard for innovation\, ingenuity\, and expression with the guitar. Their performances feature a compelling blend of musical styles\, periods\, and cultures including folk\, jazz\, Latin\, and transcriptions of some of the greatest works from the classical music canon. As they prepare to conclude six decades of international touring\, the duo returns to Athens for a final performance to say farewell and to share with us their magnificent music-making one last time.

SUMMARY:Tenebrae
DESCRIPTION:“If there is a choral heaven\, the 14 wonderfully polished and powerful singers of Tenebrae would be well equipped to supply its soundtrack.”—The Times\nDescribed as “phenomenal” (The Times of London) and “devastatingly beautiful” (Gramophone)\, the award-winning British choir Tenebrae is one of the world’s leading vocal ensembles. The choir is led by Nigel Short and has achieved international acclaim for its interpretations of choral works ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary masterpieces to commissions of new music. For its first return to Athens since 2019\, the ensemble plans a program showcasing the choir’s core values of passion and precision—iconic works by Gustav Holst and Ralph Vaughan Williams as well as Herbert Howells’s Requiem\, mixed with modern works by Caroline Shaw and Joel Thompson. \nPERFORMANCE TALK\nJoin us for a free pre-performance talk by Theresa Chafin in Ramsey Concert Hall from 6:15-6:45 pm. \nNote: Due to the change of dates for UGA’s 2026 spring break\, this performance was moved from the originally announced Friday\, March 13\, at 7:30 p.m.\, to Sunday\, March 15\, at 7:00 p.m.

SUMMARY:Isata Kanneh-Mason\, piano
DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately\, Sheku Kanneh-Mason is unable to perform due to a lingering finger injury that is taking longer to heal than anticipated. With huge regret he must withdraw from all concerts through the end of May 2026. He is extremely disappointed he cannot perform at the UGA Performing Arts Center as planned. It was a concert he was looking forward to enormously. He is grateful for your understanding and hopes very much that the concert can be re-scheduled in a future season. Fortunately\, Isata Kanneh-Mason will perform a solo piano recital on the same date. Ticketholders have been notified. \nIsata Kanneh-Mason\, piano \n“She is a pianist who makes lines sing beautifully and virtuosic passages dance\, finding intimacy and eloquence at telling moments.”—BBC Music Magazine \nThe acclaimed young pianist returns to Hodgson Concert Hall with two of Beethoven’s most popular sonatas\, “Moonlight” and “Waldstein\,” in addition to music by Ravel. Radiant recent pieces by Bulgarian-British composer Dobrinka Tabakova round out the program.

SUMMARY:Tord Gustavsen Trio
DESCRIPTION:“It is clearer than ever: Gustavsen does not touch the keys\, he sings on them.”—The New York Times\nNorwegian jazz pianist and composer Tord Gustavsen draws listeners into a musical world where melody is cherished as much as the freedom to explore textures and soundscapes. His music is the offspring of American jazz traditions — including instrumentation and improvisation — and European culture. The result is a unique\, immediately identifiable Nordic jazz sound that has won the hearts of music lovers worldwide and established Gustavsen as one of Scandinavia’s leading jazz artists. \n\nPart of Nordic Dream: Voices from Denmark\, Finland\, Norway\, and Sweden
