In this dynamic collaboration\, chamber music powerhouses Boston Brass and Turtle Island String Quartet join forces to present bold new interpretations that trace the story’s sweeping romance and heartbreaking tragedy through music. The program features works by Kabalevsky\, Prokofiev\, and Elvis Costello—culminating in a thrilling performance of Leonard Bernstein’s iconic West Side Story suite. \nPart of American Panorama: Voices of a Nation at 250 \nWILLIAM JACKSON PAYNE MEMORIAL CONCERT\nThe Payne Memorial Concert is named for Dr. William Jackson “Jack” Payne\, former Dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences\, who founded the Franklin College Chamber Music Series in 1978. In honor of his efforts\, the Payne Memorial Concert is presented free to the public once each season. \nRECEPTION\nPlease join us for a complimentary reception in the Performing Arts Center lobby during intermission.
