Comprised of 18 Black and Latino artists who reflect the highest level of musicianship in America\, the ensemble expands the breadth of classical music through artistic excellence\, pioneering programming\, and community engagement. \nVisions of Peace\, the ensemble’s UGA Presents debut program\, imagines a world where music serves as an emissary of reconciliation and unity. The performances scheduled at UGA on February 26 and 27 have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Ticketholders have been notified. \n“A delightful surprise from start to finish … a mesmerizing spectacle.”—The New York Times\nFor more than a century\, Salzburg Marionette Theatre — one of the last remaining full-time professional marionette troupes in Europe — has held countless audiences spellbound with its skillful artistry and captivating performances. The company makes a long-awaited return to UGA for an encore presentation of its magical production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music. Performed by a troupe of 24-inch puppets against a lavish\, miniature stage to beautifully recorded music performed by Broadway actors\, the charm of this old-world tradition comes to life in an unforgettable way. \nPERFORMANCE TALK\nJoin us for a free pre-performance talk by a member of the company in Ramsey Concert Hall prior to each performance from 6:45-7:15 pm.
