SUMMARY:Cantrip
DESCRIPTION:The Scottish band Cantrip takes its name from an Old Scots word meaning a charm\, magic spell\, or piece of mischief—a fitting description of the group’s dynamic\, unpredictable sound. Blending swirling border pipes\, fiery fiddle\, thunderous guitar\, and rich vocal harmonies\, Cantrip delivers an electrifying live performance. Formed in Edinburgh nearly 20 years ago\, the band’s acclaimed albums—including The Crossing—showcase a distinctive mix of tradition\, innovation\, and powerful musicianship. Today\, Cantrip features Dan Houghton\, Jon Bews\, Eric McDonald\, and Alasdair White (Battlefield Band). \n“Cantrip pulls together Breton\, Scandic\, a touch of the Balkans\, and several strands of Scottish music to produce a rich and savoury feast from what is basically four lads having fun.”—Irish Music Magazine \nView Program

He is the jazz advisor of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center\, co-curator of the TD James Moody Jazz Festival\, and co-director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. SUMMARY:Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center
DESCRIPTION:Beloved by performers\, audiences\, and composers alike\, the piano quartet stands as one of chamber music’s most richly expressive forms. This program showcases landmark works from the Romantic era: Schumann’s pioneering contribution to the genre\, Brahms’s passionate and expansive reimagining of its possibilities\, and a rare early gem by Gustav Mahler—his only chamber work\, a striking single-movement piece that reveals remarkable depth and intensity. Anchoring the concert are CMS’s longest-serving artistic directors\, cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han\, making a rare joint appearance on this tour. \n“Unimpeachable quality.”—The New York Times
