Leonard Slatkin, Conductor
Jennifer Gilbert, Violin
Now more than a century old, the Orchestre National de Lyon has achieved an illustrious history of musical excellence and is known for its outstanding performances not only in its home country, but also in its frequent tours to Europe, Asia, and the United States. The distinguished American conductor Leonard Slatkin was named the orchestra’s Music Director in 2011. Slatkin has selected an appealing program that includes the Symphonie fantastique by Hector Berlioz and two works by Maurice Ravel, Shéhérazade, ouverture de féerie and Tzigane with concertmaster Jennifer Gilbert as violin soloist. The program also features Slatkin's own composition, Kinah, a musical elegy to his parents, famed Hollywood musicians Eleanor Aller and Felix Slatkin.
