Eric Jacobsen, Conductor
Gil Shaham, Violin
Colin Jacobsen, Violin
Time magazine called Gil Shaham “the outstanding American violinist of his generation.” With two visits to Athens during the past year, The Knights have captivated Hodgson Hall audiences with works as varied as Handel’s Messiah and the orchestra’s collaboratively composed work, the ground beneath our feet. Pair Shaham with The Knights, and you have a combination that is sure to be one of the most exciting performances of the year. The concert includes the new Concerto for Violin composed especially for Saham by Jonathan Leshnoff. Shaham also joins with Colin Jacobsen as soloists in Pablo de Sarasate’s Navarra. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, Eroica, rounds out the attractive program.
Enjoy an informative pre-concert lecture 45 minutes prior to the performance. The lecture takes place in Ramsey Concert Hall and is free and open to the public.
