Saturday, April 30, 2016, marks the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Robert Shaw, the revered conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. The ASO will commemorate the centennial with a special performance of A German Requiem by Johannes Brahms in New York’s Carnegie Hall on Shaw’s birthday. You can enjoy this important concert in Hodgson Hall days ahead of the New York audience. The program also includes Jonathan Leshnoff's Symphony No. 2, Innerspace. The Washington Post called Leshnoff one of the most “gifted young composers” of this generation.
Enjoy an informative pre-concert lecture by Ken Meltzer, program notes writer for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, 45 minutes prior to the performance. The lecture takes place in Ramsey Concert Hall and is free and open to the public.
